Where are the Million Dollar Homes Located?

THURSDAY, MAR 04, 2021

The million-dollar home is becoming increasingly common. A Social Explorer analysis of newly released 2015-19 American Community Survey data finds homes valued at seven figures or more now make up a majority in three U.S. counties – San Francisco, Calif.; San Mateo, Calif.; and Nantucket, Mass. In eight counties, they make up one-third or more of owner-occupied housing.

Other than the obvious places where homes costing more than $1,000,000 would be common, like the San Francisco Bay Area, New York, or Washington, D.C., metro areas, the analysis found high-priced homes in vacation areas such as Teton County, Wyo.; Pitkin County, Colo.; and Summit County, Utah. View the percentage of million-dollar homes in your county with Social Explorer’s flexible, easy-to-use online mapping tools.
