Median Household Income Gains Over the Last Decade

More than 85 percent of the nation’s metropolitan statistical areas have posted median household income gains over the last decade, even after accounting for inflation. The increase reported by the 2019 American Community Survey indicates that the nation had finally begun to escape the effects of a devastating 2009 financial crisis, even as it slid into another one.
