Notes:
- Categories: "Foreign Born Mother Only" and "Foreign Born Father Only" were created by Social Explorer.
- 1870 Census treated "Have Foreign Born Mother," "Have Foreign Born Father," and "Have Foreign Born Mother and Father" as independent categories.
- Individuals were asked all three questions and each individual was tabulated three times. E.g., an individual, who has both parents that are born outside of the U.S., will have a count of 1 in "Have Foreign Born Mother," 1 count in "Have Foreign Born Father," and 1 count in "Have Foreign Born Mother and Father."
- "Foreign Born Mother Only" and "Foreign Born Father Only" were made by subtracting "Have Foreign Born Mother and Father" from "Have Foreign Born Mother" and subtracting "Have Foreign Born Mother and Father" from "Have Foreign Born Father," respectively.
- Knox, OH, Warren, OH, Ada, MT and Chehalis, WA have differences between aggregated table total and published total persons who "Have at Least One Foreign Born Parent." All differences exceeded published total by 1% of published total.
- Warren county under counted published by 100 while Knox county over counted 100.
- Ada, MT over counted published total by 50, and Chehalis, WA under counted by 6.
