Married Households with Children

MONDAY, SEP 13, 2021

Utah has traditionally had the highest percentage of married couples with children in the United States, and that didn’t change in 2019. A growing number of nuclear families, however, are showing up in some of the nation’s biggest suburban counties, according to a TractIQ analysis of newly released 2015-19 American Community Survey data.

Morgan County, Utah, boasted the highest percentage of married-with-kids families in the U.S. – 34.6 percent. Three other Utah counties (Utah, Tooele, and Davis) made the top 10 list. A number of big-city suburbs showed up with high percentages of nuclear families: Forsyth County, Ga., just outside Atlanta (49.3 percent); Loudoun County, Va., close to the nation’s capital (39.3 percent); Chattahoochee County, Ga., which borders Columbus (36 percent); and Oldham County, Ky., a suburb of Louisville (35.1 percent). Check out the percentage of married couples with children in your county with TractIQ’s customizable online tools.
