Notes:
- White illiterate was calculated by summing both illiterate native and foreign born whites 10 and above.
- Illiterate "Other Race" was calculated by subtracting illiterate black and white from total illiterate population 10 and above.
- Alaska and its counties did not iterate Black illiterates, hence other races was not calculated for these observations. Users are advised that the differences between total illiterate population 10 and above, and illiterate white population is illiterate black and other race combined.
- Observations for Hawaii and its counties contain only total illiterates and literate 10 and above counts without any other iterations.
