Social Explorer’s Andrew Beveridge Discusses Multi-generational Homes by Sydney Beveridge
Social Explorer’s Andrew Beveridge appeared on a New Hampshire Public Radio program The Exchange with Laura Knoy to talk about the ongoing rise and recent spike in extended family members all living under one roof.
With jobs scarce, budgets tight, and belts even tighter, generations of families are choosing to live under the same roof. Families are closing ranks and moving back home together, with grandparents, parents and grandkids all in close quarters, sharing expenses, child-care and elder care. We’ll hear about this new phenomenon and its pros and cons.
Along with USA Today reporter Sharon Jayson and Pew Hispanic Center demographer Jeff Passel, Beveridge discussed decreased incomes, delayed marriages, foreclosures and other factors behind multi-generational households. Click here to listen to the whole program.
