Social Explorer Deploys a Major Server Upgrade   by Ahmed Lacevic

This week, Social Explorer deployed a major server hardware upgrade that will make its research tools even faster. The Social Explorer team custom-built three new map servers to add to the cluster of systems that runs the software. In addition, the team has added a massive new four-terabyte storage server that will power the next generation of Social Explorer data extraction and reporting tools. Together, these new servers will give subscribed users access to real-time thematic mapping and customized reporting of every available census variable.

Social Explorer is the busiest demographic mapping site on the Internet. The website receives millions of hits each month, and our subscribers have a user base of more than half a million students, faculty, and employees. By continually adding server power to apace with the growth of the product, Social Explorer has maintained the fast drawing times that make the site so efficient and fun to use.
