Notes

Social Explorer provides data up to three NAICS codes.

** Please note that we provide midpoint values for the 'Number of Employees' supressed values. Our users will see employee number ranges for 'Number of Employees' midpoint values in the 'Employee Size Class' column.

* County Business Patterns continues to apply the Noise Infusion method of data protection that began in 2007. Noise infusion is a method of disclosure avoidance in which values for each establishment are perturbed prior to table creation by applying a random noise multiplier to the magnitude data (i.e., characteristics such as first-quarter payroll, annual payroll, and number of employees) for each company.
For more infromation on Noise indicators, please refer to: Data Withheld from Publication.

abbr.Meaning
D*Withheld to avoid disclosing data for individual companies; data are included in higher level totals
G*Low noise infusion
H*Medium noise infusion
S*Withheld because estimate did not meet publication standards

Data User Notice posted on July 21, 2016 at Census Bureau's website available at http://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/cbp/data/tables.html: Census Bureau staff identified a processing error that affects selected data from the 2014 County Business Patterns (CBP). As a result, we suppressed 2014 employment and payroll totals in the Health Care and Social Assistance sector (Sector 62) for the following geographies: U.S.; Michigan; Battle Creek, MI metro area; Calhoun County, MI; and the 3rd congressional district of Michigan. This processing error did not affect other sectors. While suppressed values can be derived by subtraction, we do not recommend using the derived values in any analyses. The Census Bureau plans to release revised statistics at a later date.

Data in this report represent those available when this report was created; data may not be available for all NAICS industries or geographies. Excludes most government employees, railroad employees, and self-employed persons.
