Use Side by side and Swipe maps

Social Explorer allows you to compare variables by showing them side by side, so that you can swipe between them. You can compare two different variables or the same variable across different years, even if the data are not on the same geography.

  1. In the map header on the top right corner of the screen, click Compare to change map view.
  2. Select Side by side or Swipe.

Both the variables will be displayed in the tooltip on both maps. Only the variable in the left map will be displayed when the view is switched back to the single map view.

The Side by side maps are linked by default. You can choose not to link them. Keeping Link Maps on will lock the position of the side-by-side maps and allow both maps to zoom and pan in tandem. If you choose to toggle Link Maps off, the side by side maps will be delinked and you will be able to make changes to one map without affecting the other. Click the double arrow icon  to flip the maps.
