The story examines the growth of the Chinese community in Flushing, Queens, now larger than Manhattan's famous Chinatown.

"This has become, and is well known as, a place you go if you're Chinese and you're living in Hong Kong, Singapore, Mainland China or Taiwan," said Andrew Beveridge, a professor at Queens College.

"A lot of the Chinese here are Mandarin," Beveridge said. "Recent Chinese immigrants are likely from Fujian."
