After years of editing materials for Social Explorer, Sydney became the Media and Content Editor in 2009.
She writes updates and original posts for the blog, edits content for the site and related textbook exercises, assists with outreach and presentations, creates how-to videos and manages Social Explorer’s social media efforts.
She graduated with a B.A. in political science from Swarthmore College (with minors in English Literature and Public Policy) and earned an M.S. and M.A. from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She used to work at Citizens Union Foundation, a New York City good government group, where she also contributed to the organization’s publication Gotham Gazette. Building on internships in the public interest sector, she participated in the NYU Wagner Fellowship for Emerging Leaders in Public Service.
Outside of Social Explorer, she freelances for Mental Floss and other publications, and provides editing and research services to a variety of clients.
She also works as the Project Manager for the Sirius Satellite Radio Show Linked, assists with BBC radio documentaries and dramas, interned at the Brian Lehrer Show on WNYC, and deejayed and directed programming at her college radio station. For more, please visit her website.
